From April to June 2026, Health Matters Incorporated launched the Community-Led Monitoring project in Okpanam, Delta State, to make healthcare more accessible and accountable. The team built trust with community leaders, assessed the health facility, and listened to clients through interviews and discussions. When challenges were identified, the CLM team identified key community advocates—including transport union member Mr. Obi Victor Dunkwu, who donated funds for disposable gloves—to help address them. Their efforts improved services, earning gratitude from clients, pregnant mothers, and the facility matron. Beyond the clinic, the team also held a Gender-Based Violence awareness event at a local secondary school, educating students on recognizing abuse and accessing support services. Through advocacy, community partnership, and education, the project proved that when communities take ownership, real and lasting health improvements follow.
