From April to June 2026, Health Matters Incorporated implemented the Community-Led Monitoring project in Ota Ward 1, Ilupewo Community, Ogun State, to improve healthcare quality, accessibility, and accountability. The team began by building trust with community leaders, assessing the Ilupewo Health Centre, and listening to clients and stakeholders through interviews and group discussions. When challenges were identified, the CLM team mobilized community support through advocacy visits. The results were remarkable: community members cleared overgrown bushes around the facility, created a safer environment, and donated ₦20,000 to renovate the drainage gutter at the entrance, improving access. To ensure these gains last, a Health Committee was established to oversee continued improvements even after the project ends. Through partnership, local action, and shared commitment, the Ilupewo community proved that sustainable healthcare starts with people taking ownership of their own health facility.
