Health Matters Inc is a non-profit, non -governmental organization registered under the Companies and Allied Matters decree of 1990. We have over 20 years experience conducting and implementing health programmes that address diseases of public health concerns. Our vision is a disease and poverty free Nigeria while our mission is to promote healthy living, among vulnerable groups in hard to reach communities through dissemination of information, education and economic empowerment programmes.

We have a team of interdisciplinary researchers who possess necessary skills, qualifications and experience in public health research and programme implementation. Our health programmes includes; diabetes, malaria, HIV, breast and cervical cancer, STI and reproductive health as well as behaviour change communication, Advocacy/Community Mobilization and community mobilization, Over the years HMI has conducted research work with various organizations including Canadian International Development Agency, Family Health International, MTN Foundation, International Family Health UK, Ford Foundation etc

HMI is one of the first local NGO in Nigeria to adopt the use of mobile clinics in primary health care delivery especially in hard to reach communities. In 2005, the organization acquired its first mobile clinic; a vehicle retrofitted with medical equipment to function as a self-contained mobile clinic. The interior and the exterior of the unit are equipped to serve four primary functions: Individual examination, Rapid diagnosis testing, Drug therapy and Group consultation. Due to increase in the scope of our intervention, the organization acquired another mobile clinic in 2010. Today we have 3 of such vehicles and an ambulance. They are used in the delivery of RH services, Counselling and testing, DM testing and prevention.

Our services are; Health care delivery, training of health professional, conflict resolution programmes, school renovation, community development, youth development/ empowerment, health education and screenings for early detection of disease, support services, training and mentoring etc.

Health Matters Incorporated was selected as the contractor for the Global Fund Round 8 Social Mobilization for malaria in the South West between 2013 to 2014. The states under the south west comprise Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ekiti and Ondo states. HMI’s responsibility as the contractor for the South-West is to engage CSOs to carry out social mobilization in selected local governments areas located in the Southwest zone on malaria prevention, diagnosis and treatment through community drama and Interpersonal Communication for the purpose of creating demand for available services, educating community members and promoting positive health-seeking behaviour through Prevention with LLN, RDT and use of ACT for malaria treatment.
